Is sushi cake overdone?
I thought sushi cake was a cute idea, but it seemed pretty common when I searched online. There were sushi cakes made of fondant, Swedish Fish, fruit roll ups, Twinkies, coconut- you name it and it was transformed into sushi. I made it anyway. I'm not a fondant fan, so I worked with candy and frosting. It looks a bit like abstract art, but it was fun and delicious nonetheless. I made California rolls, wasabi and tuna rolls. I need to add a fortune cookie and chopsticks to complete the scene. Making this sushi cake was a fun experience and I plan to refine the design and make it again.
